NCAAF - US Sports: Addison tipped to join USC influx

05 May 2022 04:02:47 EST
Addison future uncertain

Jordan Addison is understood to be mulling over offers from Alabama and USC after the star Pittsburgh wide receiver entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.

USC, 29.00 to land the NCAAF Championship, have raided the portal many times already this offseason with the addition of ex-Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Caleb Williams making the biggest splash so far.

Williams could play a role

Addison, like Williams, comes from the Washington DC area and speculation has already centred around how the sophomore QB's friendship with the wide receiver could prove to be a major pull factor.

Addison caught 100 balls for 1,593 yards last season and had 17 touchdown receptions while he finished fifth in the FBS with 143 targets.

But that was with Kenny Pickett, who was taken 20th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in last week's draft, throwing to him and the wideout can probably expect a reduced service in some way this coming season.

Addison's camp, who filed his paperwork to Pittsburgh saying that he intends to explore a transfer before the 1st May deadline, are saying that nothing is pre-determined and that the Biletnikoff Award winner as college football's most outstanding receiver of 2021 might yet return to play another year with the Panthers.

Narduzzi unhappy with situation

But ESPN, quoting a source, reported on Friday that Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi called USC coach Lincoln Riley multiple times to express his displeasure over the situation after catching wind of the Trojans' potential interest.

The issue of tampering has also been brought up with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporting on Friday that un-named Panthers figures believe USC's coaching staff broke NCAA rules by contacting Addison prior to the wideout officially entering the transfer portal.
