NCAAF - US Sports: Razorbacks tie Pittmann down to long-term deal

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman has signed a new contract keeping him in Fayetteville through at least the 2026 season and potentially the 2027 season.
Pittman led the Razorbacks, 101.00 to win the NCAAF title this year, to nine wins in 2021 and an Outback Bowl victory over Penn State.
Pittman extends Arkansas stay
The new deal, that will see Pittman earn a base salary of $5million with compensation escalators determined by number of wins and postseason success, is a major vote of confidence in the third-year coach from Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek.
The Razorbacks have struggled for relevance since former coach Bobby Petrino was fired because of off-field conduct in 2012. Prior to last year, their last winning season came under Bret Bielema in 2016 when they went 7-6 and lost the Belk Bowl.
Bielema was shown the door after a 4-8 campaign the following year, and his successor Chad Morris went 4-18 without a single conference win over the next two seasons before also being fired.

Duo join Razorbacks roster
Arkansas, although competing with the likes of Alabama and reigning nation al champions Georgia in the SEC, have now become an attractive destination for players looking for a change of scenery via the transfer portal.
The Razorbacks have added linebacker Drew Sanders and wide receiver Jadon Haselwood to their roster for 2022 and are being talked of as a potential team of the future.
"Arkansas is where I want to be, this is my dream job," said Pittman in a university statement.
"I am so grateful for our University and Hunter for believing in me, our coaches and staff and the program we're building. We are all excited to continue to build on what we've done and continue to make our fans and the whole state of Arkansas proud of our football team."
