NCAAF - US Sports: Trojans take major interest in Gentry

USC's exploitation of the transfer portal may not be over for this year after it emerged the Trojans were among the frontrunners to sign Arizona State linebacker Eric Gentry.
USC, who are 29.00 to win the NCAAF Championship, have already dipped into the portal 13 times this off-season to recruit a number of starting-calibre players from rival college programs.
New coach Lincoln Riley made his biggest splash to recruit his former Oklahoma Sooners starting QB Caleb Williams, while the Trojans have also weakened their Pac-12 North rivals by signing running backs Travis Dye and Austin Jones from Oregon and Stanford respectively.

Gentry, a three-star prospect in the class of 2021, appeared in 12 of the Sun Devils' 13 games with three starts in his first season, mostly as an edge rusher or outside linebacker.
The freshman was one of Arizona State's most effective disruptors on the defense and finished the year with 45 total tackles, five for a loss, one sack, one quarterback hurry and two pass deflections.
Gentry, alongside Arizona State wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, both entered the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday, according to 247Sports.
Plenty of interest in Gentry
Miami are also understood to be vying with the Trojans and probably several other programs for the linebacker's signature, but the lure of Los Angeles - the second-largest media market in the entire country - in the era of the Name, Image, and Likeness ruling has been a complete game-changer for several high-profile student athletes.
Since his arrival at University Park, quarterback Williams has begun to maximise his own earning potential by cashing in on a massive deal with Beats by Dre and becoming part-owner of the grooming brand Faculty.
