Brown expects big things from SmithThe Philadelphia Eagles' big offseason signing A.J.Brown has declared second year wideout DeVonta Smith to be "a wide receiver No.1" and expects him to dominate when matched up with opponents' second-best cornerbacks in 2022.
The Eagles, 1.58 to make the playoffs, pulled off a dramatic draft-day trade with the Tennessee Titans to acquire Brown but it cost them a first and a third-round pick - plus the financial commitment to a four-year, $100million contract extension with $57million guaranteed. Eagles offense bolstered
The 2020 Pro Bowl selection, who totalled over 1,000 yards receiving in his first two seasons and already has 24 career touchdowns, had been antsy for a new deal in Memphis that had not been forthcoming.
His addition vastly improves Philly's playmaking options on offense and should ensure that, alongside 2021 first-rounder Smith, the Eagles have one of the most exciting receiver duos in the NFL.

Brown has now seen what ex-Alabama star Smith, who won the Heisman Trophy, can do at first hand during the Eagles' OTAs and believes he has the potential to be the leading light in the City of Brotherly Love.
"In my opinion, Smitty is a wide receiver No. 1," Brown said of Smith, who set an Eagles rookie record with 916 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 64 catches last season.
"And he going against a cornerback No. 2, I expect Smitty to dominate. Just taking pressure off each other. Even being on the same sides, so you can't really double. It's great having another great wideout besides you."
"He's a really good route runner," Brown added, via nfl.com.
"I think the sky's the limit for Smitty. So, I'm excited for him Year 2. I'm excited for the steps he takes."
